Powerpoint Presentation, "Why North Americans Should Care About Colombia" (Loads slowly, lots of photos. Once it loads, you can click on the icon on the lower right of the screen to view the full-size photos without the notes to the left.)

See the trailer for a recommended movie, Maria Full of Grace, for learning more about the economic situations in Colombia that lead some Colombians to get involved in the deadly illegal drug trade. The U.S. buys approximately 63% of the cocaine produced in Colombia; we are their biggest customer. The drug trade causes many deaths in the U.S., but even more in Colombia, as it helps fuel the terrorist activities there. It is a serious international problem of which we are part. Drug use is not a victimless crime.
